We do a lot of sailing in windy weather (force 5, 6, 7). I was on the Sailing and Cruising the East Coast of the USA podcast where we talked about preparing the boat and the crew to sail in these conditions. I put together a summary with the outline of what we talked about. |

Gooseneck threaded backing plates in mast Much stronger than screws in tapped holes in the aluminim mast. These had to be fished up the mast into place but that was not too difficult a job. (There are #10 screws that hold the backing plates in place so the gooseneck can be removed.) |
