I took this photo from the safety of my car. We had been headed to the lake 30 minutes earlier but, after a look at the sky, we turned tail and headed back in. When I snapped this the wind was about 40-45 knots. Rain lasted about 20 minutes and there was a lot of lightning for hours after. The photo doesn't do justice to the real conditions.
This Nexrad radar image from July 21st shows the line of storms about 1 hour after it passed over us (white X on the map). That's about when the weather radio warned us about it.
