Bulkhead Flexing
From Flyer owner Edward Tarr (Nov, 2002)
pearson flyer had a problem with the front bulkhead. it seams that the seam at the bottom of the bulkhead below the sole flexed so pearson sent out a repair memo and kit . the fix was to drill bolt holes thru the area affected and bolt on an alum. plate with ss bolts and silicon. 10 years down the road the plate is all powdered and coroding not what I consider a proper fix. it was a little bit involved but my fix consisted of cutting out the bottom of the bulkhead after removing the ss bolts . the cut was done in such a way that i made it like a dove tail. I then replaced the affected area with a couple of pieces of fiberglass plate 1/4 in. thick and then using west epoxy I the glassed it in place. after that I covered the area with one piece of the glass plate on both sides of the bulkhead repair. I hope that this info will help any other possible people with a flyer and this problem rectify it . please don't hesitate to ask questions or make coments .
thanks ted tarr-ific@rcn.com
